
M5 Ophthalmic Consulting was founded by Ray Munguia BASc, COA, a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant with over three decades of experience in clinic operations, staff leadership, and patient care.
Ray’s career spans 30 years in ophthalmology, including 15 years in supervisory and management roles overseeing HR, staff development, workflow improvement, patient experience strategies, and departmental efficiency. His extensive hands-on background gives him a deep understanding of the challenges today’s eye clinics face—from staffing and scheduling to operational bottlenecks and leadership gaps.
In addition to his clinical and leadership experience, Ray serves as a Professor of Vision Care Technology, where he teaches future eye-care professionals and develops curriculum focused on clinical skills, operational excellence, and patient-centered care. This academic foundation strengthens his consulting approach by combining real-world insights with educational expertise.
Ray brings a unique blend of clinical experience, business knowledge, and leadership development skills. His work focuses on improving operational effectiveness, coaching clinic leaders, strengthening staff training, and helping practices build consistent, high-quality patient experiences.
